Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Troy, Michigan

Improving today… for a better tomorrow.

Lately you've been thinking about trying psychiatric services to see if they might help you feel and function better. But how do you randomly call offices when what you are looking for is so specific? You want someone to hear you, to understand you...and that takes time. It's not easy to find that kind of psychiatric service.

I work with patients who are looking specifically for the type of care my private practice focuses on:

Compassionate: a safe space with warmth and caring. Connected: where you feel understood not alone and isolated. Creative: treated as a unique individual with treatment tailored to your needs--not one size fits all.

You want a safe place where you can be open and transparent.

I know reaching out for psychiatric help can feel scary and risky. It’s hard to share deeply personal things and be vulnerable with a stranger. For some, it can also be painful to paint a vivid picture of your past and present.

I work hard to make it easier. Having a private practice allows me freedom to create services based on what experience has shown me my patients want:

  • My practice is built on a strong relationship with my patients. That happens with time, safety, and caring. The connection with my patients is one of my greatest strengths and it is key to effective treatment.

  • Treatment needs to work, so I use proven therapies based on current scientific research. As a nurse practitioner, all of my training has been holistic. That means treating the whole person- how you function daily, your mental and physical health, relationships, environment, finances, and spirituality. All these things impact your wellness, who you are and how you feel. My approach is not just the medical model of writing a script and scheduling a follow up visit. My focus is broader and deeper.

  • Your treatment is most effective and rewarding if you keep growing and deepening your wellness in all areas of life. Learning coping techniques and improving sleep and diet might be just a few of the changes you incorporate into your growing wellness to keep the progress coming along. As your provider, I, too am committed to keep growing and improving. Ongoing education and training are a part of who I am. As a lifelong learner, I am driven to keep learning more and deepening my skills.

How patients feel working with me:

Some patients have said they have never had someone spend so much time with them, ask them so many questions, and been so detailed and thorough. I’ve been told I feel comfortable, am a calming presence, and look at the big picture of the patient’s life. Another saw me as professional and compassionate while feeling I was a mindful, fellow traveler. I aspire to that beautiful description daily.

Patients who work with me feel competently and deeply cared for as their symptoms come down and life becomes more manageable and joyful.

My in depth and compassionate approach works especially well with my specialties:

Supervision: In the State of Michigan, Nurse Practitioners are required to have physician supervision. I have a wonderful psychiatrist that provides me with regular supervision and case collaboration.
